2025 Hair Trends in East Idaho
November 6, 2025As winter in Eastern Idaho approaches, it’s time to think about chemical peel! In Eastern Idaho, Chemical Peels are essential in your skincare routine and are one of the best ways to target and treat your skincare concerns so you can reach your goals! Let’s dive in to chemical peels and how they can help you!
What are Chemical Peels?
A chemical peel is a professional facial treatment that can help your skin look and feel better. It is an acid solution used in your treatment by a licensed professional to help exfoliate your skin. The result? Healthier looking, and sometimes even younger looking, skin.
Chemical peels are a powerful, non-invasive way to address skin concerns. Some common skin concerns we see across Eastern Idaho that chemical peels can treat are:
- Acne
- Hyperpigmentation
- Redness
- Scarring
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun Damage
If you’re in the Eastern Idaho area and have any of these skin concerns, we would love to see you in one of our treatment rooms at Tami’s Salon and Spa in Rexburg!
Are Chemical Peels Safe?
The word “Chemical” can make you think of toxic ingredients, and the word “Peel” can cause concern as well, but this is actually the opposite. Think of the term “Chemical” as natural acids made up of natural ingredients, like fruit acids. Now think of the word “Peel” as an exfoliant. A “Chemical Peel” is really just a natural acid exfoliant! Keep in mind, some chemical peels are only safe in the winter months. At Tami’s Salon and Spa, we have Chemical Peels that are also gentle enough to receive year round!
Some of those natural acids that you may find in a Chemical Peel can be:
- Alpha Hydroxy Acids: Exfoliates the skin while helping your skin’s hydration (A must in our harsh Eastern Idaho Winters!)
- Beta Hydroxy Acids: Penetrates and exfoliates the pore (great for oily skin!)
- Lactic Acid: Exfoliates and Moisturizes (it’s exceptional for fine lines and wrinkles!)
- Glycolic Acid: Great for someone who’s new to peels (Softer acid to help smooth your skin!)
What Should I Expect When Getting a Chemical Peel?
Your Esthetician will go over what to expect and contraindications with you. Based on how strong the chemical peel is, you may feel sensations like:
- Itching/Prickling and/or Heat
- Tightness
- Flushing and slight swelling
- Tenderness and sensitivity.
It’s important to remember though, that these should be mild to moderate. These sensations should not be painful. It’s important to keep open communication with your Esthetician and let them know if anything is getting too uncomfortable or even painful.
The Most Crucial Step: Aftercare
Since we do live in Eastern Idaho, chemical peels are essential. Especially when the winter winds often feel sharp and piercing to our skin, it’s important to follow the aftercare steps your esthetician provides you. Your skin will be extra sensitive after a peel, so your Esthetician will recommend products to help soothe your skin and protect it from the harsh elements! We want you to love the results and maximize the benefits of your chemical peel! Here’s some general aftercare steps we like to encourage our clients flow after a chemical peel:
- Avoid direct sunlight for 48 hours
- Wear SPF
- Keep your skin hydrated
- Avoid exfoliation for 48 hours
- Avoid Tanning Beds
If you have any questions, it’s always important to consult your Esthetician so they can give you customized answers to help support you!
Whether you’re wanting the maximized benefits of a Chemical Peel or the relaxation of a Signature or Master Facial, we’re here to help you on your journey to skincare!
