Preparing for Your Facial Appointment
July 29, 2025Coming in for a hair appointment can be stressful for some people- especially if you’re going to a new salon or a new stylist. We get it! We’ve created this quick guide to help you feel the most prepared when coming to the beUtofullness Way by Tami’s Salon and Spa!
Before Your Appointment
Find Inspo Pictures: Start by collecting 2-5 pictures of hair you love. Your stylist may ask what you like about your current style, and what you like about the inspiration pictures you chose, as well as what you don’t like. We’ll take it from there and ask you questions to guide you during the consultation so we can help you figure out what you’re wanting!
Know Your Hair History: If you’re coming in for a color appointment, your stylists will probably ask about your hair history. THIS ISN’T TO SHAME YOU. We never shame at the beUtofullness Way. We need to know your hair history because we want you to experience the best service possible and walk away with beautiful, healthy hair. Some hair history questions we may ask include, and are not limited to:
- When was your last color?
- Have you used box dye or henna?
- Have you had any chemical treatments (bleach, perm, keratin) in the past year?
Don’t Come with Dirty Hair: Don’t stress. This mainly applies to color appointments, and we don’t mean wash your hair immediately before coming to your appointment. Washing your hair 24-48 hours before your appointment is recommended. You’ll want to avoid heavy oils, dry shampoo, and lots of styling products to help the color or bleach do what it needs to.
What You Wear Matters- Kind Of: We don’t care too much about what you wear, there are just certain clothing options that can make it easier on you and your stylist. We don’t recommend wearing puffer vests or hoodies unless they can be removed without going over your head. The bulkiness can make it difficult to do your hair. If you get chilly easily, it’s a good idea to bring in an extra layer just in case you get cold. Once again, avoid layers that need to go over your head or that are bulky, and instead opt for something that is easy to take on and off.
What to Expect During the Appointment
A Consultation: Even our regular clients should be getting a basic consultation to check up on concerns, how things are going, what you like or don’t like, and things like that. Our goal is to help you find a hairstyle that fits you and your lifestyle, and helps you feel beautiful! Don’t be afraid to speak up, especially if you want to switch it up! Your stylist won’t be offended. People are constantly growing and changing, why shouldn’t our hairstyle?
Conversation Level: The conversation level is up to you. You can be as chatty or as quiet as you would like! Our cosmetologists do have to check in at certain times to ensure you’re comfortable and get your thoughts and opinions about certain aspects of your hair, but other than that you can read, work, sit in silence, have a full conversation, ask them questions, calmly vent, whatever works! This can also change throughout the service, it’s okay!
Social Media Photos: Taking pictures is how cosmetologists build their portfolio for potential clients. It also helps them see the progress and growth they’ve made throughout their careers. If you don’t feel comfortable with having your picture taken, just say so! We understand not everyone wants their lives broadcast on social media, and we’ll respect that. We should always be asking permission before taking photos anyways.
Finishing Touches: You’ll be able to see your final result once the blow-dry is complete. You will probably get asked your thoughts and if you want anything changed. Don’t be afraid to let your stylist know you want something adjusted with your color or cut! If it’s something that can’t be fixed that day due to time constraints, we’ll reschedule so we can accomplish your desired look without feeling rushed.
After the Service
When should I Wash my Hair: We recommend waiting 48-72 hours before washing your hair after a chemical or color service. This allows the color to fully set, your hair’s cuticles to close, helping your results last longer. After a haircut, you can wash your hair whenever it feels necessary.
Our Guarantee: Most salons have a guarantee for their services. Here at the beUtofullness Way by Tami’s Salon and Spa, we guarantee our work for one week. That means if you call in within one week, we will schedule you a fix at the cost of product. If you change your mind and want to go a whole different direction, this does not apply.
Ask About Maintenance: It’s important to know how long your stylist recommends before you need to come back to help maintain your results. It’s a good idea as well to ask for product recommendations to ensure your results last as long as possible. We’ll work with you to find something in your price range. At our salon, we also offer 20% off of haircare whenever you come in for a service – it’s a great way to never pay full price for a product!
Final Thoughts
Our goal is to help you have the best experience possible. We strive to go the extra mile with each of our clients to ensure they feel cared for and pampered. It’s things like this that make your experience here at the beUtofullness Way by Tami’s Salon and Spa different.
