Tami’s Salon & Spa wants to talk about the Elephant in the room, ladies. You booked your Brazilian Wax appointment, and you forgot it lines up perfectly with that “time of the month.” One of the most common concerns about any waxing service, especially a Brazilian Wax, is if it’s safe to get waxed during your period.
Yes, it is completely safe to wax during your period! There is a chance the service will feel more painful due to the fluctuation of hormones and the inflammation of skin, so that is something to consider before booking an appointment.
Here at Tami’s Salon and Spa, we provide a complimentary wipe before your appointment so you have the chance to clean up. You can also stop by the restroom before your appointment to change your tampon/menstrual cup to help keep everything sanitary and comfortable.
Typically, when you’re on your period, your wax will be more painful. This is due to your hormones fluctuating. Other than that, your experience should be pretty typical. Some estheticians may ask you to use a stick to hold the tampon string out of the way so it doesn’t get in the wax.
It doesn’t! Usually, if you have a lighter flow it could mean you may not be as sensitive. If you are on a heavier flow day, just ensuring you change your tampon/menstrual cup before your appointment would be important. Other than that, you’re good!
It’s always best to tell your esthetician, especially to avoid wax getting on the tampon string. It also helps your esthetician to know you may need to take more breaks due to being more sensitive to pain.
You’ll want to use a tampon or menstrual cup, and avoid pads and period underwear. This is because pads and period underwear aren’t as sanitary for the Esthetician and will expose them to more blood. A tampon or menstrual cup will be more sanitary and is less of a concern for both the Esthetician and the client.
Here at Tami’s Salon and Spa, our Estheticians are knowledgeable on how to reduce the pain, discomfort and anxiety that comes with getting waxed while on your period. Whether you need to take more breaks or you’re more sensitive, we’re here to help every step of the way!
As always, keep open communication with your Esthetician during your appointment and keep these concerns in mind before booking your wax appointment during your menstrual cycle!
