Let’s face it, we all have stress in our lives. It seems like we are constantly in a state of trying to balance work, family, hobbies and hoping we can fit in a bathroom break and sleep somewhere in our day. A lot of the reason we feel overwhelmed is oftentimes because of the stress in our life and us not having a good way to get rid of some of that stress.
Massage therapy is a great way to get rid of some of that stress. It is shown to lower cortisol levels and give you endorphins so your body can assist you in regulating your emotions. This is amplified the more massage therapy sessions you get!
So often should I get a massage? While the answer varies on the person, and it is always best to discuss with your massage therapist what they recommend, we can give you a few guidelines as to what is generally recommended.
In most circumstances, we suggest coming in for a massage every 2-4 weeks, at least once per month. Sometimes your body needs more consistent massage when you are working with chronic pain or specific health issues. This is when we would usually recommend coming in for more frequent sessions. If you’re an athlete or work in a job with high physical activity, your body may need weekly to bi-weekly massage appointments. For general maintenance, a good rule of thumb is to come in once a month to keep your body and mind working together!
Don’t stress about how often you feel you need to come in. We understand everyone has a different budget and lifestyle, so talk with your massage therapist about what may work best for you and your situation!
