Getting your hair done can be such a fun and relaxing process! Whether it’s your first time getting your hair done at a salon, or you’ve been going for ages, we wanted to give some tips and tricks to help you feel as prepared as possible when coming in for your appointment!
Just being honest, it can get really intimidating with all the beautiful hair colors all over social media nowadays. How is one to know the difference between a balayage, highlight, and other techniques if you aren’t a hairstylist yourself? That’s why we have color consultations! Color consultations are a great way to get on the same page with your stylist. Whether you need advice on what will look best on you, or need a color correction, we love sitting down and figuring out what works best and how we can achieve your hair goals together!
During the color consultations the stylist will tell you how long what you want might take. This isn’t to crush your dreams, it’s really to help you see what is possible. For example, if you have a level 1 black hair and are wanting to be a level 10 platinum blond, the stylist will probably tell you it will be a multiple step process. This is because they want to keep your hair as healthy as possible.
As a stylist we recommend washing your hair either one to two days before your appointment. Coming into your appointment with dirty hair can make it so the hair doesn’t stick to the cuticle as well as it would with clean hair. This is because all the natural oils and products you do have on your hair are already soaked into the cuticle making it hard for the color to be soaked into the cuticle. If you happen to wash your hair before your appointment, it’s important to come in with dry hair, or let your stylist know ahead of time so they can make time adjustments if necessary.
Here at the beUtofullness Way by Tami’s Salon and Spa, we work hard to ensure a welcoming environment for our clients. Part of this is to not judge our clients. We understand the at home colors, the kitchen scissor haircuts, and the hair mistake you want to forget. We want to help you achieve your goals, and in order to do that we need to make sure we know about your hair history so we can keep your hair as healthy as possible.
Don’t forget to keep your lifestyle in mind when thinking of your next hair color. Do you need to wear your hair up for work? Are you able to come in every 6-8 weeks for a touch up, or do you need to have a color that you can come in once or twice a year for? We are here to help you figure out the best options for you!
For anyone who tends to overthink their outfits on the day of their appointment, here are some quick tips. Hoodies and bubble vests can be hard to work around, and high necked shirts may be prone to getting some color on them depending on what you’re wanting. We will do our best to ensure we are careful with your apparel. Your comfort is important to us, so dress in a way that will help you be comfortable!
