There’s so many options… how is one to decide what color to paint their nails? Instead of just going with a color that you may hate for the next 4-6 weeks, lets make an educated decision based on your skin tone!
What’s Your Skin Tone?
When trying to decide what color to paint your nails, I like to consider looking at your skin tone when selecting a perfect nail polish or gel color. First, let’s ask a few questions to find out what your skin tone is! Are you cool, warm, or neutral? Every human is one of those 3 basic skin tones! Skin tone is not about your race or ethnicity, it is your DNA, and all 3 are equally beUtofull! Knowing your skin tone helps with so many things! It’s your way to know exactly what colors to wear to make you feel like a million bucks! Skin tone can help you when choosing your nail color, makeup, jewelry, hair color, and even clothing choices! All of these decisions can help you feel more confident and radiant!
Find Your Skin Tone
So, let’s find out your skin tone. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Do you look better in white or cream colored clothing?
- Do you prefer to wear silver or gold jewelry?
- When thinking about your wardrobe and what colors you like to wear, do you see mostly cool colors (think spring) or warm colors (think fall)?
White, silver, and cool colors puts you in the category for “cool skin tone”, while cream, gold, and warm colors puts you in the category for “warm skin tone”. If you answered both to most of those questions, you’re likely a neutral!
Nail Colors for Neutral Skin Tones
Those with Neutral skin tones are often referred to as having “the best of both worlds”. The downside is it doesn’t necessarily narrow down your choices! You can go with trending tones such as earth tones, nudes, soft pastels, vibrant colors, or even the deep, rich colors! Most neutrals stay away from true yellows, blues, reds, and taupe, so if you’ve never liked those colors, now you know why!
Nail Colors for Cool Skin Tones
White and silver are definitely two colors that makes those with cool skin tones glow! There are also so many more colors to have fun and experiment with besides those two. Pale blues, icy lavender and stunning pastels are all great options. We also can’t forget about the pearly trends, give you that glazed donut or gemstone look. Go ahead, have your chrome moment or two, we’re here for it! Be careful during the fall when choosing the rich fall colors, maybe choosing more of an emerald green over an olive green!
Nail Colors for Warm Skin Tones
Cream and gold makes those with warm skin tones feel flawless! Gravitating towards earth tones, such as terracotta, olive, and mustard, deep corals, and warm nudes are a great idea for your nails! Bring on the gold leaf flakes and rich hues, because they will make you feel absolutely amazing! We recommend staying away from neon colors or ultra-cool pastels.
